(this one comes from my friend Terry)
Pilot Capt. Brian Bews ejects as his a CF-18 fighter jet plummets to the ground during a practice flight for an air show in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, on Friday, July 23, 2010.
A note on the ejection seat design:
Notice how the seat corrects its trajectory upward after deployed - this is due to built-in gyroscopes that keep it from sending the pilot into the ground.
Bravo Zulu to those engineers - a true life-saver!
Keep in mind, this is about 2 - 3 seconds duration; the ejection seat has not even hit the ground before the aircraft is completely engulfed into a massive fireball.
